MINUTES FOR THE SPRINGFIELD RETIREMENT BOARD MEETING
70 TAPLEY STREET, SPRINGFIELD, MA 01104
HELD ON JULY 26, 2017 AT 10:00 A.M.

Present: Thomas Scanlon, Patrick Burns, Robert Moynihan, Executive Director Susana Baltazar, Judy Dziobek, Recording Clerk, Anthony Trabal, Magali Trabal, V. Van Johnson, Rosemary Cotton-Coleman.
Absent: Haskell Kennedy and Philip Mantoni – Scheduling conflicts

Agenda Item #1 – MGL Chapter 32 Section 91A
The Executive Director stated that six disabled retirees were not in compliance with M.G.L. c. 32, §91A (failure to submit certain information to PERAC). Anthony Trabal, V. Van Johnson, Rosemary Cotton-Coleman, Michael Lombard, Sean Fitzgerald and James Murgolo. The Director informed the Board that all the Retirees were notified of this meeting and the various issues for not complying.

Anthony Trabal addressed the Board and explained the reason for his not complying fully was that PERAC was requesting information regarding his former wife’s business. He stated that his former wife had taken over the business at the time of their divorce. Due to a recent fire in his former wife’s house, she has been unable to provide the required information to PERAC. Since the requested tax information was not available, the Board explained to Mr. Trabal that Executive Director Baltazar will personally contact Sandra King at PERAC, explain the situation and see what steps should be taken to avoid termination. Motion made by Moynihan to grant a 30 day extension of time to file the documents to PERAC, second by Burns and voted unanimously.

V. Van Johnson addressed the Board and requested a 30 day extension in order for him to obtain certain information that he would need to file his tax returns. Motion made by Moynihan to grant a 30 day extension of time to file the documents to PERAC, second by Burns and voted unanimously.

Rosemary Cotton-Coleman addressed the Board and stated she will be able to submit the information to PERAC within 30 days since she had recently moved and had to locate the first two pages of her tax return. Motion made by Moynihan to grant a 30 day extension of time to file the documents to PERAC, second by Burns and voted unanimously.

Executive Director Baltazar informed the Board that she had received an email from Michael Lombard who is currently out of the country and will forward the information to PERAC as soon as he returns. James Murgolo and Sean Fitzgerald will also be forwarding the information to PERAC. Motion made by Moynihan to grant a 30 day extension to them in order to obtain the required items to submit to PERAC, second by Burns and voted unanimously.

Motion made by Moynihan to adjourn at 10:30 A.M. second by Burns and voted unanimously.
